Not a recent picture, I have to admit (note the price of the magazine), but here’s me, in a London fashion studio in the 1980s, basically getting paid to cuddle pretty girls. How I got away with the hair is a mystery but it sure beat working for a living.
Ok, here’s a more recent picture, taken on the beach at Diabaig, on the west coast of Scotland, scene of several of the paintings on this website. Hair’s still a problem…
I am, apparently, “accident prone”. (Credit here for the picture to my father, the late, great John Dixon who was an aerial photographer for Rolls Royce during WW2.) A few years ago I went to a pain conference in Switzerland…and smashed my leg. It was history repeating itself: my Mum once sent me to self-defence classes and I broke my arm just doing the warm up exercises. I’ve also rolled two motor cars and concussed myself by falling off a racehorse so, at 60, my body is somewhat weary and dented. My wife is, I am sure, just waiting for me to injure myself somehow with a paintbrush.
Then I had a spell making furniture. Great fun, but hard to make money out of and yes, I used to cut myself a lot… This Windsor is in elm and ash.
